The price of the Skoda Kushaq varies from Rs. 10.89 Lakh to Rs. 20.01 Lakh, depending on the chosen variant. The Kushaq is equipped with two engine options: a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine that produces 115PS and powers the front wheels through either a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission, and a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine that generates 150PS and comes with a choice of a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT transmission. Although we didn’t have the opportunity to test drive the 1.0-litre turbo engine during this initial drive, it is the same powertrain found in the Rapid model.

The Kushaq is equipped with two petrol engines. The first option is the familiar 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine, which generates 114bhp/178Nm of torque. It can be paired with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. Additionally, there is a more powerful 1.5-litre TSI engine available, producing 147bhp/250Nm of peak torque. This engine can be combined with either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed DSG unit. Kushaq offers an abundance of options. These include an electric sunroof, a two-spoke steering wheel, ambient lighting, USB-C charging ports, front ventilated seats, keyless entry, and a 10-inch free-standing touchscreen infotainment system. The infotainment system is equipped with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Wireless SmartLink connectivity.

Engine
The new Skoda Kushaq will offer a choice of powertrain options. These include a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder TSI petrol engine that produces 113bhp and 178Nm of torque, as well as a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder TSI petrol engine that produces 148bhp and 250Nm of torque. The standard transmission is a six-speed manual, but the 1.0-litre version can also be equipped with a six-speed automatic, while the 1.5-litre version offers a seven-speed DSG automatic as an option. These engines have been updated to meet the BS6 Phase 2 and RDE emission norms and are said to deliver up to seven percent improved fuel efficiency.
Mileage
The Kushaq offers a mileage range of 18.09 to 19.76 kmpl. The Manual Petrol variant provides a mileage of 19.76 kmpl, while the Automatic Petrol variant also delivers a mileage of 19.76 kmpl. The Kushaq is available with two engine options: a 1-litre, three-cylinder unit generating 115PS of power and 178Nm of torque, and a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged unit producing 150PS of power and 250Nm of torque. Both engines are paired with a standard 6-speed manual gearbox. In terms of automatic transmission choices, the former engine comes with a 6-speed torque converter, while the latter is equipped with a 7-speed DCT (dual-clutch transmission).
Design
The Kushaq possesses several notable features. It showcases clean and sleek lines, along with flat sides and short overhangs, resulting in a desirable boxy SUV-like appearance that appeals to enthusiasts of this genre. The attractive front end is enhanced by the distinctive Skoda grille, stylish headlamps, and sporty bumper. The 17-inch alloy wheels and boomerang-shaped tail lamps also contribute to its cool aesthetics. However, the absence of curves and flared arches around the wheels could have added more road presence to the Kushaq.
Skoda Kushaq Key Specification
We had the opportunity to test drive both the manual and automatic versions of the 1.5-litre engine, which was the only option available. The engine offers a smooth and refined performance, with power delivery that is consistent and linear. It provides ample power for navigating twisty roads with excitement, as well as for long journeys without any effort. We experienced no difficulty in reaching high speeds effortlessly, and Skoda’s claim of 8.6 seconds to reach 100kmph seems entirely believable. In case you plan to primarily drive in the city, you’ll be pleased to know that the engine pulls strongly from as low as 1300rpm, making it highly drivable even at lower city speeds.
