The Tesla Model S, a sedan manufactured by Tesla, is set to be launched in India in March 2025. In the Indian market, the new Model S 2025 will compete with the BMW 5 Series, Lexus ES, and Volvo S90. The anticipated launch date for the Tesla Model S is also in March 2025. Instead of relying on a side-mirror-based blind-spot warning (BSW) system, the Model S utilizes images displayed within the instrument cluster to show cars in adjacent lanes; however, this substitution is considered subpar. The Tesla Model S is available in three versions: 75D, 100D, and P100D. All three versions feature a single-speed transmission and all-wheel drive.
Tesla Model S
No matter which version you opt for, the Model S provides full-time all-wheel drive. The acceleration of the various models ranges from exceptional to incredible. The standard Model S has proven itself as a nimble sports sedan with precise control of body movements and responsive steering. There are two different settings that allow drivers to select heavy or light steering effort, but neither of them enhances road feedback. Regrettably, the available yoke-style steering wheel is poorly integrated and detracts from the driving experience; however, a regular steering wheel is offered at no additional cost.
Tesla Model S Information
The Model S boasts an impressive EPA estimated driving range of over 400 miles, making it a highly desirable choice for long-distance travel. Another major advantage is the ability to utilize Tesla’s supercharging network at public locations. The car offers exceptional performance, characterized by both quiet and exhilarating acceleration, precise handling, and a comfortably firm ride. Its hatchback design adds versatility, and the presence of a frunk (front trunk) is an added bonus. However, one drawback is the unintuitive controls due to Tesla’s decision to remove the steering-wheel stalks for turn signals and wipers. Instead, many common functions are performed through a small, half steering wheel known as a yoke. This compromises usability and maneuverability to some extent.

Tesla Model S Standard Feature
Tesla provides the international-spec Model S with three options for its electric powertrain: Long Range, Plaid, and Plaid+. The Long Range version is equipped with a dual-motor setup and boasts a claimed range exceeding 660km. On the other hand, the Plaid and Plaid+ versions come with a tri-motor setup and have claimed range figures of 627km and 837km respectively. All variants feature all-wheel-drive capability. Furthermore, each variant can accelerate from 0 to 96kmph (0-60mph) in 3.1 seconds, 1.99 seconds, and under 1.99 seconds respectively. Additionally, the Model S offers various features such as up to 21-inch alloy wheels, a glass roof, two wireless smartphone charging pads, and a powerful 22-speaker 960W audio system.
Mileage
The Tesla Model S guarantees a range of 652 km when fully charged. It is available in two versions: the base dual-motor model, which has a range of 405 miles and delivers 670 horsepower, and the Plaid model, which offers an impressive 1,020 horsepower and a range of 395 miles. While both versions are known for their speed, the Plaid surpasses even million-dollar hypercars in performance while still providing the practicality of a family hatchback and the ease of maneuverability similar to that of an Accord around town. The unconventional yoke steering wheel was not well-received (and can now be chosen as an option), and compared to newer competitors, the Model S may feel dated and less luxurious.

Range
The Tesla has a battery pack located beneath its floor, which results in a low center of gravity and weight that is evenly distributed from the front to the rear. The driving range and acceleration performance may differ depending on the model. The base version of the Tesla can provide a range of up to 320 miles, while the Long Range model offers up to 405 miles. However, the Lucid Air currently holds the record with an estimated range of 517 miles.
Design
While the cabin of the Model S is pleasant, it lacks the luxuriousness of our preferred options like the Mercedes-Benz E-class and Volvo S90, both of which are more affordable. The Model S features a cleverly concealed rear liftgate under its sloped roofline, providing access to a spacious 26-cubic-foot trunk. Surprisingly, we were able to fit eight carry-on-size cases without needing to fold down the rear seats. The interior does have limited storage compartments for small items, particularly in the back seat, but there is a large underfloor bin in the rear cargo area as compensation.

Tesla Model S Key Specification
The cabin of the Model S is equipped with a large infotainment screen that controls nearly all of the car’s functions. While technology enthusiasts will be thrilled, we still have some reservations. The placement of the screen on the dashboard may require certain drivers to lean forward in their seats to access specific icons, especially those located at the top-right corner of the display. In contrast to the more affordable Model 3, the Model S offers an additional display for the gauge cluster and a small touchpad in the rear seat area.

Tesla Model S Exterior & Interior Photo
Exterior
The design of the Model S is characterized by its sleek and curvaceous appearance, resembling a coupe-like roof inspired by the Mercedes-Benz CLS Coupe. The headlights now feature full-LEDs instead of projectors, while the bumper incorporates additional design elements. The side panels now have new bodylines and all chrome accents have been changed to matte black. Furthermore, the rear haunches are slightly more prominent, requiring a repositioning of the front fender cameras to ensure an unobstructed view for assisted driving in reverse.
Interior
The Model S has replaced its large vertical centre screen with a more traditional 17-inch horizontal unit. This new screen can be tilted from side to side, allowing for a better viewing angle. The air vents are now concealed to create a cleaner dashboard design. Additionally, a new eight-inch screen has been introduced for the rear passengers, positioned at the back of the front centre console. Other notable features include updated device charging options, an advanced 22-speaker surround-sound system with noise cancellation, and an enhanced ‘Auto Pilot’ autonomous driving system.

Tesla Model S Rating & Reviews
The primary modification to the Model S occurs internally. The dashboard has been entirely redesigned and now features a yoke steering wheel, reminiscent of a racecar’s rectangular unit with no upper or lower portions. Additionally, the central touchscreen has a horizontal layout, the AC vents are concealed, and there are new trim and upholstery options. Furthermore, a new infotainment screen has been installed for the rear passengers, situated on the rear side of the front centre console. The Model S still maintains its electric battery-integrated chassis resembling a skateboard design. This chassis can support either a dual-motor configuration like that found in the Long Range variant or a three-motor setup as seen in the Plaid and Plaid+ variants. The claimed maximum range achievable on one charge ranges from 628km to 837km.
