The same turbocharged four-cylinder engine, eight-speed automatic transmission, and front-wheel drive power both Benzes. A variety of options, including all-wheel drive, can transform the cabin from business as usual to Club Mercedes-Benz GLB with the help of an optional ambient lighting package with illuminated vents. The GLB-class has good driving dynamics that make it easy and entertaining to pilot, despite its lack of horsepower, which was saved for the Mercedes-Benz GLB, which was reviewed separately.

Mercedes-Benz GLB

The Mercedes-Benz GLB has more cargo space than the hotter GLA-class thanks to its squarer rear end, and it can even be ordered with a third row that is very tight as an option. The GLB is offered in two trim levels—Progressive Line and AMG Line—each with a distinct style.

In India, the Mercedes-Benz GLB is currently on the road and much-anticipated. When it launches in India in 2023, it will without a doubt be at the top of its game. The distinctive third-row addition to the compact SUV as well as the ample storage space are what give the Mercedes GLB its practicality and comfort.

Similar to any Mercedes SUV, the GLB has a refined interior with high-quality upholstery that feels firm against toned skin. Additionally, Mercedes-Benz GLB is the high-quality steering wheel with its exquisite leather, chrome, and knurled buttons.

Mercedes-Benz GLB Younger Sibling Car

The Mercedes-Benz GLB younger sibling, is heavily influenced by it. The twin 10.25-inch touchscreens and instrument panel, twist-to-close turbine-like air conditioning vents, the stack of HVAC controls below, and even the trackpad on the center console are all familiar features of the dashboard layout. The Mercedes-Benz GLB sloping dashboard, door mats, and even the seats all appear to be very similar.

Mercedes-Benz GLB Dual-Slat Grille

A dual-slat grille, a faux silver skid plate, exterior chrome trim, and 18-inch alloy wheels are included in the Progressive Line trim. In the interim, the Mercedes-Benz GLB Line bundle gets a more honed looking guard, single-brace Mercedes-Benz GLB grille and 19-inch AMG twin five-talked compound wheels. Engine, Transmission, and Performance

A 1.3-liter turbopetrol engine with 161 horsepower and 250 nm of torque and a 2.0-liter diesel engine with 188 horsepower and 400 nm of torque drive the Mercedes-Benz GLB. The respective automatic units have seven and eight speeds and are paired with these motors. The turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that sits behind the three-pointed star on the grille of the GLB produces 221 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque.

Eight-Speed Dual-Clutch Automatic Transmission

In 2024, a hybrid system with 48 volts is new, but overall output stays the same. Both front-wheel drive and an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission accompany the engine. We have not tested this new 48-volt system in the GLB, but the previous all-wheel-drive GLB was able to accelerate to 60 mph in 6.0 seconds without it. Although the GLB250’s ride and handling are pleasant and competent for an SUV of this size, we didn’t find it to be particularly sporty.

Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG

The Mercedes-Benz GLB achieves an impressive estimated 24 mpg city and 32 mpg highway* thanks to its world-class engineering. We anticipate a slight improvement over last year’s estimates due to the new 48-volt electrical system, but the EPA has not yet released estimates for the 2024 GLB-class. The front-wheel-drive GLB was estimated by the EPA to get 23 mpg city, 31 mpg highway, and 26 mpg combined in 2023; The version with all-wheel drive is nearly identical, but highway fuel economy drops to about 30 mpg.

BMW X1’s Estimated EPA Mileage

Those numbers were comparable to the BMW X1’s estimated EPA mileage but slightly lower. The GLB250 4Matic from last year achieved 32 mpg on our 75-mile highway fuel economy test route, beating a comparable X1 by 1 mpg. When the EPA publishes its findings regarding the updated GLB’s powertrain, we will update this section.

Lithiumion Battery

The lithiumion battery in the Mercedes-Benz EQB 300 4MATIC electric vehicle has a usable energy content of 66.5 kWh and a maximum voltage of 367 V. In the rear axle, the EQB has two motors: an existing asynchronous motor and a brand-new permanently excited synchronous motor. It is said to have 390 Nm of torque and 168 kW of power.

Interior & Exterior

The Mercedes GLB’s signature twin slat grille, squared LED headlights, 19-inch alloy wheels, two-piece LED taillights, dual exhaust pipes that are integrated into the rear bumper, and aluminum polished roof rails are some of the car’s exterior highlights.

GLB’s Interior Features

The GLB’s interior features two 10.25-inch screens, an instrument console, an infotainment system, 64-color ambient lighting, a flat-bottom steering wheel, four drive modes, TPMS, a panoramic sunroof, powered front seats with ventilation, seven airbags, and a flat-bottom steering wheel.

Seats Folded Down

The 20 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second-row seats and 62 cubic feet with those seats folded down, the GLB-class has an interior that is nearly as big as the next-size-up BMW X3. Power front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel are standard features on the entry-level GLB-class.

Row of Seats

A third row of seats is an option, but heated and ventilated seats will set you back more money. We anticipate that the majority of buyers will spend money adding popular luxury features to their GLB250, such as leather upholstery and interior ambient lighting.
